Somehow, sometimes it seems like African people know how to move every part of their body separately in ways that seem anatomically unlogical.
Check out the rhythm and flow.

DDOSFB#7 - The Puppini Sisters
The Boogie-Woogie, a piano based blues style especially popular in the 1930s - 1940s. In contrast to the mainstream blues style which is mainly about emotions, this style is all about dancing.
This is a cover version of the original song (1941), which was by the Andrews Sisters, about a "virtuoso trumpet player" which in turn was based on a song about a "virtuoso piano player".
Check out the original by the Andrews Sister, the lyrics are slower and more discernible.
Also the Puppini Sisters' cover of Beyonce - Crazy in Love is interesting.
Enjoy

DDOSFB#6 - Sara Tavares
From Cape Verdean descent, this Portugese singer makes chilled out music, suited for summer, but also for winter obviously, to bring in some sunshine.
They called it African inspired world music on Wikipedia. However, many different influences shape her music.
Sara Tavares - Balance
Note also the song One Love.

A last tune for this Christmas season. Some hours left, at least, in this timezone.
This song by a Malaysian artist is taken from the Brushfire Records Christmas Album (Jack Johnson's record company).

This Christmas song is quite modern. Make of it what you will, especially the lyrics.

DDOSFB#2 - Variety Lab
Keeping in the realms of the electronic genre, the song today.
Although often put into one big box, the variations within the electronic genre are enormous.
This lounge/chill-out/upbeat soft-house song undeniably sports some jazz influences as well.
Appreciate the persistent bass melody/rhythm line and the music video.
Good for some sunshine in wintery days.
Enjoy

DDOSFB#1 - Cut Copy
Electro-pop
This genre stands in the shadow of the more mainstream electro hype today. However, it is significantly sweeter, cheesier and soaked with melancholy.
Mainly influenced by the 80s and 90 with the synthesizer feel of the 80s and the often sweet singing and melody styles that typifies 90s boybands and girlbands.
The beauty of it is the modern twist and feel of it even though there is such strong influence of those years before (especially bass and bass line).
This song features 80s synths and a singing style that resembles Madonna quite a lot (even though it's a man singing).
What makes it great though, is the two small bits with a definite 80s-90s sample with synths and cheesy boyband melody singing. Do you ever like a song just because of one or two small bits..? The rest of the song has a very melancholic feel. The sax at the end is pretty 80s.
Play it a couple of times
